Objectives
- To promote, defend and disseminate in Europe the dedicated Rail Freight Network Approach as per FP6 NEWOPERA Project.
- To promote a European freight mobility system more competitive for the users with less external costs for the citizens.
- To promote transport and logistics initiatives on sustainable cargo mobility based on a European Rail Network predominately dedicated to freight. This facilitates transport industrialisation through overland/hinterland rail distribution to/from Ports and Inland Terminals/dry Ports/Hubs/intra Terminals and Inland Waterways connections.
- To promote co-modality extracting best productivity from each mode of transport. A long term strategic vision for rail freight rejuvenation is vital through infrastructure investments.
- To promote modal shift towards rail freight reducing road congestion, CO2 emissions, energy consumption, in favour of safety, better quality of life and environmental protection.
- To promote the introduction of new hard/software technologies, management tools, intelligent systems allowing more effective and efficient cargo mobility on rail.
- To promote the standardisation of rail systems in favour of interoperability allowing an effective seamless trains circulation.
- To promote/support any measure/systems capable of generating new capacity on rail such as ERTMS, ETCS and through longer and heavier trains.
- To promote the concept of “rail corridor ownership” as OSS new management tool grouping under one roof the know-how, competences on international corridors. This leads towards KPIs application, productivity ratios and costs allocation to its generators.
- To co-operate with EU Commission, ERA, Local Governments, UIC, CER, Institutions, Authorities, Associations, operators or any other group of interests for achieving these objectives.
- To promote the new rail marketing approach of multi-products rail services based on multi-channel distribution organisation.
